David Nail was at an industry party on Tuesday celebrating his Number One hit "Whatever She's Got".  But the bigger story was when he decided to open up about his lifelong battle with depression.

He said, quote, "To be honest and blunt as I can possibly be, I've been depressed my entire life and just dealt with so many insecurities.

"It kind of came to a head a couple years ago when 'Let It Rain' was #1 and I had all these good things going on and I just wasn't happy.  And to be perfectly honest with you, I just bottomed out."

David always thought he could fix the problem own his own . . . and hoped that success would make it all better.  It didn't, so he finally got help.

He said, quote, "I've been going to counseling for a couple of years now and take a lot of really expensive medicines and just made a lot of changes in my personal life."

He also gives credit to his wife Catherine.  Quote, "There have been so many moments where I wouldn't have blamed her for leaving.  I think she always believed there was a little bit of light at the end of the tunnel.  She's just a trouper."
