Miranda Lambert Delivers Live Debut Of New Song 'Locomotive' At CMA Fest

2019 CMA Music Festival - Day 3

Miranda Lambert treated fans to some long-awaited ear candy when she debuted a new song this weekend.

During her show at Nashville's CMA Fest Saturday night (June 8), the country singer surprised concert-goers at Nissan Stadium with the live premiere of a fresh tune called "Locomotive." The record, which blends pop and rock elements, is the latest release from the musician's upcoming album, slated to release any day now.

“I’m like a locomotive, I don’t run out of steam,” Lambert starts the song off, before launching into a scorching, southern-style chorus, “Cause I’m sweet tea sippin’ on my front porch sittin’ while my hubby fries chicken, and I’m picking these strings."

Lambert announced the track hours ahead of her concert in a press conference, during which she explained: “I chose it for CMA Fest because it’s total country punk-rock. It’s just fun. It really is a reflection of who I am right now. You’ll know when you hear it.”

In an April interview with Saving Country Music, the 35-year-old hinted at "taking risks" with her new sound for her follow-up to 2016's The Weight of These Wings.

"I’m going into fearless mode musically and heart wise. I feel like they go hand-in-hand. I’m jumping out there and taking risks, and I feel good about it," she told the outlet. "I’m going in and we’re making it, and we’re putting it out as fast as we can … I’m happy and I’m healthy, and I’m ready to kick a** again.”
