Tanya Tucker Wins First Grammy Awards 47 Years After First Nomination

It's been a big night for country music icon, Tanya Tucker. Forty-seven years after her first Grammy nomination, the country star has won the first Grammy Awards of her career. She picked up trophies for Best Country Song for "Bring My Flowers Now" and Best Country Album for While I'm Living.

Tucker took the stage with her co-producers, Brandi Carlile and Shooter Jennings along with co-writers Phil and Tim Hanseroth to accept her award.

"You know, after almost 50 years in this business, after many dreams, it's unbelievable to me that I'd have a few 'firsts' left. So, after 14 trips, 14 nominations, this is the first win," said Tucker.

Tucker then goes on to thank Carlile and Jennings believing in her. "I just want to say that no matter how young of old you are, never stop following your dreams. Keep going," she added.

Tucker was first nominated for a Grammy in 1973 for her breakout hit "Delta Dawn." She has since received 10 nominations, but hasn't won an award until today. Her last nominations came in 1994.

Live at this year's awards Tucker and Carlile took the stage to perform Tucker's Grammy-winning song, "Bring My Flowers Now." The intimate performance took place on a small circle stage surrounded by the large crowd.

"Bring Me My Flowers Now" can be heard below. Stay up to date on winners for the 62nd Annual Grammy Awards here.
