Tropical Storm Isaias Crawls to the Florida Coast

Isaias has weakened to tropical storm status but it's expected to re-strengthen into a hurricane overnight. Isaias is set to approach Florida early Sunday morning, before tracking up Florida's East Coast and moving as far north as New England early next week.

The National Hurricane Center's 11p advisory has Isaias (ees-ah-EE-ahs) with maximum sustained winds of 70 miles per hour and about 80 miles southeast of Fort Lauderdale, moving northwest at 9 miles per hour.

During an evening briefing, Gov. Ron DeSantis cautioned Floridians to remain on guard and prepared.

Due to social-distancing measures recommended in response to the coronavirus pandemic, DeSantis said officials may refrain from ordering evacuations unless absolutely necessary.
