Orioles Rally To Take Series From Rays

The Baltimore Oriles (17-25) defeated the Tampa Bay Rays (24-17) 7-6 in eleven innings on Sunday afternoon. The win gives the Orioles a series win over their AL-East division rivals.

This game started well Tampa Bay, putting up four runs in the first inning. Baltimore clawed back into this one, getting two in the third and one in the fifth. After both teams traded runs in the seventh, the Rays took a 6-4 lead into the ninth inning, but Austin Hays came away with a two-run single in the bottom of the ninth to tie the game 6-6.

After a scoreless tenth inning, the Rays were again unable to score in the eleventh inning. Baltimore came away with the win after Rougned Odor hit a ground ball to the right side that Ji-Man Choi committed an error which allowed Adlesy Rutschman to score.

Corey Kluber only lasted three innings in this game, allowing two earned runs on five hits while striking out two and walking two. Dustin Knight (0-1, 2.45) took the tough luck loss out of the bullpen, allowing only the one unearned run on Ji-Man Choi's error at first base.

The Rays are now off on Monday and begin a short two-game series with the Miami Marlins on Tuesday night. First pitch Tuesday is scheduled for 6:40 PM at Tropicana Field - pregame coverage begins with Jay Recher hosting the Inside Pitch at 5:30 PM on 95.3 WDAE & AM 620.
