There is no shortage of stories about a potential battle royal between former President Trump, who just announced he is running again in 2024, and Governor DeSantis.

But the governor hasn't said he wants to be president and on Wednesday he addressed a reporter's question this way.

"We just finished this election, okay? People just need to chill out a little bit on some of this stuff. I mean seriously, we just ran an election."

DeSantis called Florida "kind of the biggest bright spot" in an otherwise "substandard performance for Republicans across the country.

"The reason why we won historic victory is at the end of the day we led, we delivered and we had your back when you needed us. That is why we won big."

In Southwest Florida to discuss Hurricane Ian recovery efforts, the governor said he's focused on things that will continue to have Florida "lead the way."

DeSantis handed out $8.7 million for emergency management personnel who were displaced by the September storm.

The governor's comments about the election are around the 19 minute mark in the video above.
