Senator John McCain dies at age 81 of brain cancer

Sen. John McCain died at the age of 81 on August 25th at his ranch in Arizona. He was diagnosed with a brain tumor last year and this week his family announced that he would no longer continue with medical treatment for the brain cancer. 

Sen. McCain was born into a military family and had in fact had served himself. When he was a naval officer, he spent over five years imprisoned in Vietnam. Later in life he ran for presidency but fell short of making it to the White House. 

His wife Cindy McCain and daughter Meghan McCain took to twitter to share their feelings about him and his passing.
