The House that Built Ronnie, Donnie and Johnny Van Zant is now an AirBnb!

I've met so many people in the 44 years since the Lynyrd Skynyrd plane crash who came to Jacksonville solely to visit the graves of those lost in the crash, including lead singer Ronnie Van Zant. So I bet this place is going to get booked a lot. The childhood home of Ronnie, Donnie and Johnny VanZant is now listed as an Airbnb.

The Van Zant house has a plaque in the front for being an official heritage site. And if you book it, that's what you'll get: Heritage. Because they've restored it to what it looked like in the '70s . . . including a vintage 1938 Brunswick pool table and memorabilia.

So don't expect too many modern amenities . . . with the exception of Wi-Fi the owner is expecting to upgrade soon. It sleeps up to six people with 3 bedrooms and one and a half bathrooms . . . and it costs $236 a night.

My wife and I went by the house a couple of years ago after they erected the plaque and was invited in by one of the inhabitants at the time to take a look at the renovations they were beginning to undertake. From the pictures on the Airbnb page, it looks like they did a great job of renovating.

In a 2018 interview, Johnny said, "That house was our life, that neighborhood was our neighborhood . . . We all learned how to play drums in that house and how to swing on the swing-set out there . . . that's where we learned to sing."
