Dolly Parton Recalls Hosting Saturday Night Live

On April 15, 1989, Dolly Parton served as both the host and musical guest on Saturday Night Live. The experience left her breathless.

In an interview with Cody Alan, the legend lovingly reminisced on that long and laborious night. "[Saturday Night Live] is actually LIVE, and I never worked so hard in my life!" laughs the "Jolene" singer. "Being the musical guest is easy, or even just being there to do a skit or two, but to try and host and do the whole thing, I was worn out!"

"When the show was over, I just collapsed," shared Dolly. "I mean, you have to get right in there. I was in all the skits, I hosted, and then I did the music too!" See her opening monologue by clicking HERE.

Dolly was joined on stage during this episode by a star-studded cast, including Conan O'Brien, Jeanne Dixon, Victoria Jackson, Mike Myers, Ben Stiller, and Jack Nicholson

Fun Fact: Did you know that Dolly is listed as one of the few country artists who have performed double duty acting asmusical guest and host on SNL? The only others who have joined the ranks have included Blake Shelton, Garth Brooks, Willie Nelson, Kris Kristofferson, Johnny Cash, Tim McGraw, and Taylor Swift.
