Kids Kingfish Derby is a nonprofit, kids-only tournament. We are focused on introducing kids to offshore fishing, sportsmanship, conservation, and outdoor recreation. The event is designed entirely around the kids, giving young anglers the opportunity to compete, learn, and enjoy a family-friendly day on the water.
The tournament is held annually during the last weekend of July, and 2026 marks the 7th Annual Kids Kingfish Derby. The event features two youth divisions:
• Ages 6 and under
• Ages 7 and older (up to 15)
July 24: Mandatory Captains Meeting at the The Palms Fish Camp 6:30pm
July 26: Fishing Day - Captains may fish from St. Augustine to Fernandina
July 27: Award Ceremony at the Chem Cell Club Inc.
Unlike traditional fishing tournaments that focus heavily on cash payouts, the Kids Kingfish Derby is centered on creating memorable experiences for children. Prize packages are specifically put together to encourage them to get outside and enjoy the outdoors. The derby promotes fun, competition, and sportsmanship while teaching respect for marine resources and conservation practices. The top three places in each division lifetime fishing licenses with their prizes, and some pretty awesome trophies.
Kids Kingfish Derby, Inc. is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, and all net proceeds support a designated local charity.
