Florida Woman Rescued From Storm Drain For Third Time

DELRAY BEACH, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) — A Delray Beach woman was rescued from a storm drain Wednesday afternoon. It was the third time that the woman was rescued from a storm drain.

Delray Beach Police officials tell BocaNewsNow.com that "Delray Beach Fire Rescue and Police responded to a call about a possible person in distress while swimming and rescued a woman from a storm drain. The call was received at approximately 12 PM on January 18, 2023. First, responders arrived at the canal near the 500 block of Lindell Boulevard and located then questioned the woman swimming in the canal, asking if they needed assistance. The woman refused to respond to the police officers and began entering the culvert pipe. Delray Beach Firefighters were able to contain her between two sections of pipe. The special operations team members deployed a ladder to reach her, secured her in a rescue harness, and extracted her from the storm drain."

The woman, identified as Lyndsey Kennedy, was not seriously injured. Kennedy was previously rescued from a storm drain in Delray Beach back in 2021. She has also been rescued from a storm drain in Texas. Kennedy is facing an unrelated hit-and-run charge in Palm Beach County. That case continues.
