Miami Cave Crayfish Close To Endangered

The "Miami cave crayfish" could become a threatened species.

The U-S Fish and Wildlife Service is proposing issuing the tiny, pale crayfish found exclusively under the city of Miami in the Biscayne Aquifer as "threatened" under the Endangered Species Act.

The experts say it's becoming a victim of saltwater intrusion into the aquifer from sea level rise, more frequent tidal flooding and more intense storms.
