It's Pro-Palestinian National Day of Resistance

The group,Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP), is calling for National Day of Resistance demonstrations today across campuses throughout the country, including in South Florida. Its chapters include those from the University of South Florida, the University of Florida, the University of Illinois, New York University and Ohio State University, among several dozen others.

Members of SJP participated in this past weekend's gathering in Fort Lauderdale, where the group clashed with Pro-Israelis. At least one person was arrested.

The (mostly) student is calling for this “day of resistance” on college campuses, it says, "in support of brutal terrorist attacks on Israel, emphasizing that they are not only in solidarity with Palestine, they are “PART of this movement.”

Broward County Sheriff Gregory Tony says there are extra deputies around mosques, synogogues and college campuses. He adds that his department is coordinating security measures with the FBI.

A pro-Palestine rally was held on Wednesday, at Florida Atlantic University. One woman says Palestinians and Hamas are fighting a resistance towards occupation, genocide and ethnic cleansing.
