Monroe County, FL - 110 Cuban migrants who arrived in the Florida Keys are expected to be repatriated to Cuba.

Authorities confirmed Tuesday that U.S. Border Patrol agents apprehended the 110 migrants who arrived in the Florida Keys on Monday.

Chief Patrol Agent Walter N. Slosar say the migrants arrived in three separate landings and were detained with assistance from the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, the U.S. Coast Guard, the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission and U.S. Customs and Border Protection.

The migrants are expected to be repatriated to Cuba.

Cuban migrant landings continue to rise in South Florida, with some landings having turned deadly in the Straits of Florida, the channel between southeastern Florida and the Bahamas, and the Florida Keys and Cuba.

At least five migrants drowned earlier this month while trying to make it to the Keys.
