Huge Mega Millions Jackpot... Don't Do What Toni Foxx Did

The Mega Millions jackpot for tonight is huge. As of this writing, it's at $750 million.

Keep your ticket, check it after the numbers are drawn at 11:00pm and THEN throw your ticket out if it's a complete loser. That is the proper order of things.

But this morning, I threw my ticket out. The ticket for TONIGHT'S drawing.

Yes, I threw out my ticket!

Here's what happened. I woke up at about 5a and like many people, I looked at my phone first thing. Big mistake. First thing I saw is something about the Mega Millions drawing and how there was no winner.

So, I thought, ok, well, let me check my ticket anyway, in case I won some kind of money, not the big jackpot.

I pulled up the numbers, checked, I matched nothing, so I threw my ticket in the garbage. I also took the garbage out when I left for work. I never do that but I did this morning, because I made shrimp the other night and the shells were in there and it stunk very badly.

Well, then, I got to work and I realized that the Mega Millions numbers were not last night. Last night was Thursday. The Mega Millions numbers are drawn on Tuesdays and Fridays.

I think what happened is that in my sleepiness, I saw an old post on my phone, and I wasn't thinking clearly, so I thought it was for last night.

So, as I write this, the ticket I bought is in a garbage bag with stinky shrimp shells in the garbage dumpster in the parking lot of my condo community. That ticket could have tonight's winning numbers. It could be my ticket to instant riches.

I CAN'T BELIEVE I DID THIS!!!

Yes, I know my odds of hitting the jackpot are very small.... very very very small. 1 in 302,575,350. But what if that ticket is the one???? What if that ticket matches a bunch of other numbers and I could win a lot of money, even if it's not the $750 million?

I'll never know because I threw the ticket in the garbage!!

My only hope now is that there is no winner of the jackpot or if there is a winner, I hate to say this but I will anyway.... but I hope that winner is not from Ponte Vedra Beach, because that's where I bought my ticket.

Because if there is a winner from Ponte Vedra and they don't come forward, I know it's the ticket I prematurely threw away and I will hate my life going forward.

The moral of this story is do NOT look at your phone first thing in the morning! Nothing good could come of it.
