Neighborhoods With More Dogs Have Less Crime, but not for THAT reason

A new study from Ohio State finds that neighborhoods with more dogs have lower crime rates, including lower homicide and robbery rates. And it's not just the ferocious gate-keeper you have barking away the bad guys.

It’s because with residents having to walk their dogs, it puts more “eyes on the street," making it less likely crimes will occur.

They says this is particularly true in areas where there is a high amount of trust between neighbors.

Having more dogs also helps decrease property-related crimes like burglaries because barking and the sight of dogs will keep criminals away. So even your littlest best friend is part of keeping your neighborhood safe, just by going for a walk!
