Sandbags for Northeast Florida

As Hurricane Ian approaches, we are bracing for the storm which could bring 12-15 inches of rain in certain areas of northeast Florida. Sandbags are available in the surrounding counties of Jacksonville. The city of Jacksonville during previous severe weather events has not offered sandbags to residents in Duval County, but here are some places to get some today:

Baker County - The city of Macclenny will offer sandbags to residents of Baker County beginning Tuesday at noontime.

They can be picked up at the city hard located on Hartline Drive. There is a limit of eight bags per vehicle.

Clay County officials are offering sandbag distributions on Tuesday and Wednesday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. until supplies run out. The limit is 10 bags per person. Residents will have to fill the bags and show proof of county residency.

Omega Park – 4317 County Rd 218, Middleburg

Eagle Harbor Soccer Complex – 4287 Lakeshore Dr, Fleming Island

City of Green Cove Springs – Old Fire Station – 25 Roderigo Avenue, Green Cove Springs

Town of Keystone Heights – Keystone Heights Cemetery – 555 South Lawrence Blvd

Town of Orange Park – Orange Park Athletic Association – 1086 Fromhart St, Orange Park

Nassau County Emergency Management will be offering sandbag pickups Monday in preparation for Hurricane Ian’s impact on Northeast Florida. The distributions will be at the following locations in Yulee and Hilliard:

Yulee Road Department Yard — 86200 Gene Lasserre Blvd., Yulee, Fla., 32097

Hilliard Road Department Yard — 37356 Pea Farm Road, Hilliard, Fla., 32046

Both sites will be open until 7 p.m. Monday. Following Monday, the sites will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. until further notice. Hundreds of prefilled bags are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Once the prefilled bags are gone, residents will need to fill their own bags. Nassau County residents must provide proof of residency.

St. Johns County will provide sandbags at various locations on Tuesday and Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Residents are required to provide their own transportation, and shovels and are responsible for filling their bags. The maximum allowed is 20 bags per person.

Mills Field - 1805 Racetrack Road

North Beach Park - 3721 Coastal Highway

Palm Valley - Underneath the Palm Valley Bridge on the east side of the Intracoastal Waterway

City of St Augustine
The City of St. Augustine will offer sandbags on Tuesday beginning at noon until 5 p.m. or while supplies last. The limit is 20 bags per person. Residents will need to bring their own shovels and are responsible for filling their bags. The distribution will be at Francis Field. Vehicles should enter from the west off Riberia St. and follow directions.
